Gulp. 45 and freckled.

Posted March 30, 2016 @ 8:44am

Gulp. 45 and freckled. This is me in Pilates this morning. Not sure why I'm smiling... Faker!! Although, I Love Johnson, he kills me, but in a good way; all part of the 'new hip' rehab that seems never ending. Recently (March 9th) I turned 45. It was odd not to have 100s of birthday wishes; but I only use Facebook for my portfolio page and that doesn't flag you to give me love, nor did I post about my birthday on Instagram this year. Not because I don't want your gifts... ;P Turning 45 isn't the easiest; for me anyway. I don't know why. Facts. I'm not embarrassed by it. I know I don't look 45 (whatever 45 looks like...) I'm still with a hovering maturity level of about 21... Maybe that's my problem. Post-facial selfie in Maldives at the Conrad (That condescending eyebrow is natural, not from Botox; so I guess I'm naturally filled with...

Holiday makeup || What came first: the Turkey of the eyeliner? What came first: the turkey or the wingtip liner? By Andrea Claire The holiday hustle is here. Countdown to turkey in 5-4-3-2 - hold the phone... a little higher with a top tilt... This is your selfie posed and ready to click. The problem with this day and technological age, is that we feel the pressure to be picture perfect as we are bent over, face in the oven about to baste with haste. It's bad enough that we need our #ootd to complement our kitchen utensils, now we need our hair & makeup to be #onfleek?!Let me share with you, a few beauty bites that will get you ready for the #santaselfie and / or #turkeygroufie this holiday season. Olaplex: what is it and do I need it?

Posted August 24, 2015 @ 9:43am

Olaplex: what is it and do I need it? Olaplex, do you need it?In a word: yes! Here are more words from Andrea Claire (points to self) as to why:Olaplex is being praised as the 'holy grail' of hair.It is a hair game changer.I've been a hairstylist since 1991 and nothing compares to this on the market. Simply, it is an additive/treatment that you can mix into your chemical services to stop damage done to the hair shaft. It's a bond multiplier reconnecting broken disulfide bonds found in hair. Some stylists like to push the envelope when it comes to colour/bleach/ what have you, compromising hair stability well - this alleviates that compromising position allowing you to maintain hair's integrity without pushing any boundaries. I'm not a boundary pusher; it's just not how I do hair, but I did buy some Olaplex on my last visit to Canada and have been testing it out on myself and my clients since I got back in Singapore. I don't colour my hair but I...

The age of Adaline to Zelda

Posted August 7, 2015 @ 7:39pm

The age of Adaline to Zelda[sorry my head's so big... I gotta work on that!] We are constantly on the uphill battle of beauty. Why? Because society and media tell us we are (and the occasional mother-in-law).Lately I have been having a constant revolving door conversation with many women about age and makeup. Researching for ideas. What is the general consensus?20s - it's the 'anything goes' years30s - it's 'use caution but with your newly added eye cream'50s - it's 'grab your coral lipstick'60s... Wait...40s....? Why is the 40s seeming to be a lost decade? Cut your hair into a bob and sit quietly until 50s beauty rules kick-in?I thought it was just me projecting (I'm 44); but after asking other women in their 40s if they felt the same, well, turns out that I'm not alone. It's almost as if under 40 & over 40 have their place in the world but we are the 'hold on a sec' decade. I guess our kids ballet and...

Pushing BROW-ndaries

Pushing BROW-ndariesIt takes a lot these days to have your brows considered to be #onfleek. Face Lace by Phyliss Cohen has expanded her line to include artsy brows that even caught the attention of Lady Gaga who was seen wearing them. Pictured here is a behind the scenes photo of a bridal editorial I did for Style Weddings where our model was wearing a textured gold. The magazine is do to drop in September! Would you dare to wear?
