Look Into The Light Carol Anne! Finding Your Best Makeup Light
If we were smart, we all would have invested into a company who produces ring-lights and with the growth of the influencer franchise, so has the sales of illumination.
The influencer market oversells many a bill of goods, it’s as if commercialism is on steroids. When it comes to beauty influencers, they are literally in your face pouring skincare and makeup onto their skin. But you buy it because it looks good… until they step out into natural light…
This is what I want to discuss with you now. Lighting.

So now you see how maybe you look tired at work but embrace the fact that now you know that your colleague looks tired plus is an asshat.
Mini ring-lights are known as a type of beauty light, which are great propped onto your computer for that video call but they aren’t always ideal for applying your makeup.
Important to note: For video you do need to make sure that your light purchase specifies for video otherwise the light will ‘buzz’ on camera and you will see a kind of light flicker akin to a cheap disco.
This makeup mirror is cheap and cheerful. I have not tried this one but if you are on a budget, the ratings here are amazing. I love that it has magnifying mirrors too which are great for detail work like eyeliner or shaping brows. Remember, they are sisters not twins!
Glamcor is a brand where I have used their professional makeup lights for work and they do make these adjustable light for at home use vanity mirrors or if you prefer, personal sets that can travel too.
I can say that generally, doing your makeup using a ‘candlelight’ setting is questionable because you cannot teleport yourself there. If you have an important function, just hire a pro in the know.
